Well, this seems like good news to start a blog on, so here we go: UCAS Track confirmed today that I was officially in to St Andrews University to study Russian and Spanish. I knew this would be the case last week, but it is nice to see it confirmed in black and white, as that does add a certain level of stability to it. The next step seems to be to sit tight and wait for them to start sending me information about things like term dates, accommodation, reading lists etc. In one way, I would quite like the accomodation at least to be sorted out fairly soon as that will be a huge weight off my mind, but we will see what happens.
In light of this, I did spend a long time this lunchtime looking at the St Andrews Societies page looking for things I liked the look of, and ended up getting really quite excited about the whole process. There were also a few things I think it would be quite amusing to join – the Cheerleading society, for instance, and someone did point out that Latin Dancing was generally short of guys, so I think this could have its appeals . . .
Whilst I’m here, a note about this blog. It’s generally designed to give people at home a glimpse of what I get up to whilst away and to save me having to repeat myself entirely at Christmas – it won’t be a complete picture, nor is it designed to replace proper communication, but it does at least give you all an overview of what I’ve been getting up to. As there will be a broad spectrum of people reading this, I will try and keep something in for everyone, and I hope that you will continue reading, even if not every post interests you. If anything interests you or you want to know more , please by all means email me with questions, as I will love getting emails from home. If I don’t respond immediately, it probably means I got concussion from some Russian verb conjugation – send me a little reminder e-mail giving me a gentle nudge.
Anyway – I hope you all enjoy reading this and it gives you some sort of flavour of what I’m up to whilst away from sunny Didcot.
