Many churches struggle with the technical expertise to upload sermons onto their websites. Easy Sermon solves that problem by making it really simple to upload sermons from within the WordPress backend. It creates its own page where sermons will be archived and then allows you to enter all the details for each sermon.
Because each sermon is created as a special kind of WordPress page, it is easy to display recent sermons on the front page of your website or elsewhere by putting a few simple lines of code into your theme. The goal of Easy Sermon is to be as helpful as possible whilst keeping life simple for you.
As of the current version, Easy Sermon allows you to:
- Upload sermons onto your WordPress website
- Automatically create a podcast feed for importing into programs such as iTunes
- Modify the settings for your podcast
- Write your own themes to ensure perfect integration into your website (though the default theme is also quite good).

What you need:
Assuming you have the right equipment and software to turn your sermons into MP3 files, all you need is a recent installation of Wordpress. Some hosts have limits on the size of files that can be uploaded, however, so you may also need a FTP program to upload the files manually before linking them into the backend.
Customising the appearance
Although the default appearance of Easy Sermon isn’t bad, some users may prefer more control over the appearance of their sermons on their website. This is easy to do with a little knowledge of HTML and CSS. In the plugin folder, there is a file called archive-sermons.php. Copy this into your theme folder and you can edit it to your heart’s content.
Copying it into your theme folder means that it doesn’t get overwritten by any future updates to the plugin, allowing you take advantage of all new features without worrying that something is going to break.
